Penvith Barns Bed & Breakfast St Martin by Looe

Penvith Barns
Just 2 miles out of Looe set in 8 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside. The Barns are on the site of a manor house built in 1310; there has been continuous farming on the site ever since. You can still see part of the wheel pit dating back to the manor and a tunnel reputed to have been used by smugglers in the 17th century.
All our 4 rooms are en-suite and with distinctive décor.
Behind the barn are steps to the picnic meadow, with trestle tables and a barbeque. Here you can take in the stunning views across the fields to Looe and the sea in the distance. At the top of the meadow is our Hot Tub, the perfect place to reflect on your efforts of the day and plan for tomorrow. We also have a small herd of alpacas and sheep which you will be able to feed from your hand if you are patient.

The Seaside Room. Named for it’s nautical theme, this is a very large, sunny room, with a double bed and single bed and comfortable sitting area with plenty of room to chat or watch tv. The view from the windows is of fields and alpacas, and down the valley towards Millendreath and Looe.

The Small Barn Room. Part of the main house, but with it’s own entrance. The ceiling has been opened up to the old beams above. The room has a double bed, sitting area, and a tiny patio. The views from here are probably the best in the house, looking across open countryside to Looe and the white clay hills of St. Austell twenty miles away.

The Hay Barn. Opening off our breakfast room, another individual, quirky double bedroom, with original beams and giant fish. There is a dressing room with an antique dresser.

The Piggery. A cosy, private retreat, set across the courtyard from the main house. This delightful double room has also had it's ceilings removed revealing old stonework which dates back to the 17th Century. Odd niches in the walls hint at it's agricultural past. Charming countryside views include our girl alpacas in the distance.

We serve only the best locally sourced produce, most from the local farm shop. The breakfasts include homemade bread, muffins and pancakes.
